SPRING 2012
Last year was the driest year on record. This spring has been amazingly wet. The aquifers are actually starting to refill. It’s green outside my window. Most eastern counties have been removed from the TCEQ’s severe drought list.
How are the gods going to fickle with your fate this summer? Come and learn from the best forecasters since the psychic chicken at Aquarena Springs. Yes, it is time for the IWSCOT Spring Seminar 2012. Come hear tall tales and fantastic stories about what is happening to your neighbors and what could happen to you. Read the entrails and guess whether it is going to rain or just stay hot.
We will gather at the Embassy Suites North, IH-35 @ Clayton Lane in Austin on Friday, May 11, 2012. We have asked the TCEQ to update us on what is happening in the water and sewer programs. We will continue our investigations into cutting ratemaking issues by looking at what is happening in calculating rate base. Dave Crawford with In-Pipe Texas will let us know about new sewer treatment possibilities in the collection system. How neat would it be to improve the quality of your effluent while increasing your treatment capacity without building a new expensive WWTP?
The Good Lord willing, we will have a golf tournament on Thursday, May 10. Mid-May should be our best chance of having really pleasant weather during an IWSCOT tournament. Call or email JJ and let her know who she will have to beat this time. [jjsmith1@austin.rr.com]. We need email addresses for all golfers so we can send you the tee times.
The traditional feeding frenzy of non-Vegans will occur Thursday at 7:00 pm at the Texas Land & Cattle Company. If you imbibe in spirituous libations, meet the meat eaters for pre-dinner cocktails in the Embassy Suites atrium around 6:00 pm. Again, please let JJ know if you might attend so we can reserve a large enough table.
